About Assist2Admit
Vivian Fung College Prep launched The Assist2Admit program in 2020 to help underserved students who were most critically impacted by the challenges of distance learning during the pandemic. The program was made possible by the generous support of the Qualcomm Small Business Accelerator Program, with partners including Best Buy, Microsoft, Verizon, Samsung, Sophos, Targus and Linksys.
Nominations were solicited from teachers, mentors and community members. Nominees were then invited to tell their personal stories through an application process. Common themes were that English was not the primary language spoken at home, technology constraints posed serious obstacles during remote learning, and extra support was desired to navigate the admissions process as first generation college applicants.
Six students were selected from a pool of 31 nominees to participate in the program, and each was awarded a Samsung Galaxy laptop, a Verizon hotspot, and college admissions guidance from Vivian Fung College Prep.
Now that Jonathan ’23 and Abigail ’23 have joined Annette ’22 and Miguel ’22 on their path to college, the admissions guidance shifts to the members of A2A ‘24, Daniel and Matthew.
