Congratulations to 2022 Graduates of the Assist2Admit Program
Press Release June 22, 2022
Vivian Fung College Prep is very pleased to present the first two graduates of the Assist2Admit Program!
Annette and Miguel are proud graduates of the Class of 2022. After a good deal of hard work to finish high school on a high note and complete applications to college, they were rewarded with great news in the spring – admission to 10 different colleges!
Among their admittances: UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly Pomona, San Diego State, Chico State, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State San Francisco, Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Fullerton.
Both Annette and Miguel have chosen to attend UC Riverside in the fall. They will be taking their A2A technology to college with them, and we can’t wait to hear about their adventures ahead! We wish them every success!
About Assist2Admit
The Assist2Admit program was launched in late 2020 by Vivian Fung College Prep to help underserved students who were most critically impacted by the challenges of distance learning during the pandemic. The program was made possible by the generous support of the Qualcomm Small Business Accelerator Program, with partners including Best Buy, Microsoft, Verizon, Samsung, Sophos, Targus and Linksys.
Nominations were solicited from teachers, mentors and community members. Nominees were then invited to tell their personal stories through an application to the program. Common themes among the applicants were that English was not the primary language spoken at home, technology constraints posed serious obstacles during remote learning, and extra support was desired to navigate the admissions process as first generation college applicants.
Six students were selected from a pool of 31 nominees to participate in the program, and each was awarded a Samsung Galaxy laptop, a Verizon hotspot, and college admissions guidance from Vivian Fung College Prep.
Now that Annette and Miguel have graduated from high school and are successfully off to college, the admissions guidance shifts to the members of A2A ‘23, Jonathan and Abigail, and support continues for Daniel and Matthew in A2A '24.
