Press Release June 14, 2024
After three years of mentorship and guidance through the Assist2Admit Program, Matthew and Daniel are proud graduates of the Class of 2024! Both have overcome significant personal challenges to achieve their dreams of graduating high school. They will be the first in their families to attend college.
Among their admittances: San Jose State, Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Fullerton, Loyola University Chicago, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State San Bernadino and Grand Canyon University.
Both Matthew and Daniel will be attending CSU San Marcos in the fall. They will be taking their A2A technology to college with them, and we can’t wait to hear about their adventures ahead! We wish them every success!
About Assist2Admit
Vivian Fung College Prep launched The Assist2Admit program in 2020 to help underserved students who were most critically impacted by the challenges of distance learning during the pandemic. The program was made possible by the generous support of the Qualcomm Small Business Accelerator Program, with partners including Best Buy, Microsoft, Verizon, Samsung, Sophos, Targus and Linksys.
Nominations were solicited from teachers, mentors and community members. Nominees were then invited to tell their personal stories through an application process. Common themes were that English was not the primary language spoken at home, technology constraints posed serious obstacles during remote learning, and extra support was desired to navigate the admissions process as first generation college applicants.
Six students were selected from a pool of 31 nominees to participate in the program, and each was awarded a Samsung Galaxy laptop, a Verizon hotspot, and college admissions guidance from Vivian Fung College Prep.
All six are now on their college paths -- headed for even more success! We are so proud of them!
